Nothing less than awesome
When I try and fight the mac corner against my PC friends, there is so much that places the mac software, hardware and quality so far above the PC, that I am usually lost as to where to start
The main things (ps. I'm keeping this short and sweet):
- Software runs seamlessly, all applications are fun and above all intuitive to use.
- It never crashes or gets virus's
- Even this macbook (2.0Ghz, 2gb RAM) can run my heavy apps like Logic and illustrator at very fast pace. iTunes, Spotify, iPlayer, iPhoto, iChat are all accessible and easy to use.

Basically, if you buy this macbook, it will last you a long time, it will be reliable, you will have fun while using it, and it probably won't drive you mad. It is expensive compared to PC's - granted - but in the long run it is probably worth it. To provide context, we have a 2001 iMac, which still runs as good as new, and looks cutting edge (if a bit slow, but what do you expect)

Review 1 : I love it
This is the first Mac I've had and I was worried about transferring from many years of using Windows. There's still a few things I need to work out but otherwise I absolutely love it. Why? The bright backlit screen means I can work with it outside; the feel of it - from the aluminium body to the touch of the keys, the magnetic power cable so you can't trip over it and smash the machine, iPhoto which enables you to do clever things with your pictures, and many more.
I hadn't been sure about paying the extra to get a Macbook - I'm glad I did.

A Ferrari that drives like a Citroen Diane
I first started using Macs in the late 80's. At work I used a Mac SEII; a funny box like thing. In the early 90's I bought a Mac for my home computer, can't remember the type; one with a separate CPU. Both computers and associated software were miles ahead of any of MS Dos PC computer I used at work. Practically everything about them felt like Apple had a foot in the future and an in depth understanding of what users wanted and how to make it easy. I was an "Apple-bore". Anywhere I worked I advocated that we used Apples.

In the mid/late 90's I had to buy a PC, I got a Dell laptop, which - I thought - worked adequately. In late 2006 it died. I excitedly started reviewing the current Apple Macs and their spec.s for one I would purchase now I no longer was obliged to have a PC. Following a few trials in Apple resellers this (or its forerunner) was the one I chose.

Review 1 : Awesome Machine
I'm sitting here writing this review on my new Apple Macbook and after the two nonsensical bad reviews below, I'd like to redress the balance.

This is an awesome laptop.

I'm already a big Apple Mac fan after making the slightly scary switch from a Windows PC to an Apple iMac a couple of years ago. Generally I have never once regretted it and I really feel like I'm slumming it if I have to use a Windows PC for any reason. Mac OSX is truly a more intuitive, user friendly and more reliable platform than the clunky, crash prone Windows.

I still, however, have a few slight issues about moving to Mac OSX. One is that although Microsoft Office for Mac allows you to open Powerpoint documents, it doesn't support ActiveX so some interactive features don't work. A minor niggle for most, but I'm a teacher and until now my presentations haven't been as good as they should have been. Another problem is that some programs still aren't released on Mac. Review 2 : Another convert joins the flock...
To put this in context my dad worked for Digital (DEC) when I was a child and I first started using PC's at the age of 3. I got my first PC at about 11 or 12, a 486 with (gasp!) a CD-ROM drive that took three days to install. Now I'm not saying I'm Old-Skool(TM) as I never owned a C64 (just an Atari ST), but I just wanted to state I've been a PC fanboy for a long time. I'd always hated Macs. Macs were those grey boxy things that only ran Prince of Persia, although apparently they were great for "desktop publishing", whatever that is. Get a Mac and don't look back
I got off to a bad start with this purchase: its built-in iSight camera didn't work properly. However, I have to say that Amazon responded very speedily and got a free-of-charge replacement on its way within 24 hours.

Now it's up and working, I can only echo the comments of other reviewers. It is a triumph of form and function. Everything about it, from the perfectly spaced, back-lit keyboard to its wondrous 'buttonless' trackpad, is there to give the user the best possible experience. The absurdly short start-up time (compared to any version of Windows) shows what happens when hardware and software go hand-in-glove.

There is an iLife 2009 CD in the box to enhance the pre-installed '08 suite. Also you'll find tons of support on Apple's website (as well as its latest lightning-fast Safari 4 browser, which I've downloaded).

Review 1 : Take the silver pill
I've never used a Mac at all, and always found the 'elitism' surrounding the brand a little confusing. Having owned one for a couple of days i understand what the fuss is all about.

No need to read the manual, you will be working out of the box in no time. Everything about the OS is vastly superior to Microsoft's efforts to emulate it. The build quality is outstanding, and using this machine is a joy rather than a chore.

The best way to describe the quantum step might be to imagine years driving a Daewoo Matiz, and stepping into a Porsche. It's really that good...
Review 2 : Converted - Totally!!
I first noticed this Mac back in October, and thought that aesthetically it was a beautifully engineered machine, but have never bought in to the Apple hype, as a) it's never appealed, and b) a Computer is a computer is a computer, right?

WRONG!

Now I know Vista has come in for a lot of criticism, but I started using it the day it launched nearly 2 years ago, and have NEVER had a problem with it. What I have continually had a problem with, is that new PC's/Laptops start off great, and after a month or two, grind to a halt. No amount of debugging/defragging etc etc ever seems to cure them, and having purchased a HP Pavilion less than a year ago only for the same problem to reoccur, I decided that enough was enough, and I was going to look at Apple more seriously.
