Shame about the hard drive
I've had two of these laptops in the last three weeks. Looks wise and build quality are superb but both failed due to the hard disk drive. The first one kept checking the disk on bootup and then one day just died completely. The second I'd had for two days and it started disk checking. I wasn't going to wait for the inevitable and have since swapped to a Samsung which is a shame because I'm a big HP fan. Basically they are using a hitachi hdd which is reknown for failing. If this was a different hdd I'm sure everything would have been dandy.
Just beware. It's alot of money to spend and alot of data to lose should the unthinkable happen. Not to mention the hours to set everything up and get your laptop just right, only to have to repeat the process again and again.

Review 1 : hp pavillion dv7 review
Looks very good, my wife even called it "menly":) Its size is what I needed, not too heavy. The "clickpad" is a bit too large - accidental "clicks" occur more often while typing more than with my previous one. Overall very decent workstation, clear and sharp display, IMHO one of the best spec to price ratio at the moment.
Review 2 : A laptop for business.
This machine has all I need for my business, although it's called an "entertainment" laptop. To my thinking, a machine that can cope with entertainment programs, ought to be good at anything! That's the background to my purchase. Performance wise - e.g. speed, it's as good as had hoped. My desktop has a 3.2Ghz old style Processor and I really wanted my new Laptop to behave in like fashion.
Once one gets rid of all the "additions/trials" etc., and loaded what I actually need to use, I can say "I like it".
However, this machine - according to HP, and the Specification - is supposed to support HP QuickWeb, which I could do with.
Now the DV7 I have, does not a QuickWeb button - supposedly only cetain machines have one. I have asked HP why, but have not received an answer - not to worry though, as they say "oh yes, you can install it", and they have detailed how one uses it without a dedicated button. Great, I thought!
So, yesterday, HP provided a Link in order to be...
