Review 1 : A mess thanks to Windows 8
The laptop itself gave me a first good impression, i.e., sturdy and nice a keyboard feel. A little drawback for me was the touchpad, the somewhat hard to reach button for opening the CD/DVD drive and the "shiny until you touch it" surfaces of the laptop. Well, all minor issues. And then came Windows 8:
Right after the first start-up of the laptop Windows 8 tried to install a bunch of updates. However, those certainly important updates failed. After several restarts of the system (by the way, the shut-down button can be found under "system settings") I tried to find help on the Microsoft website. I was not too astonished that this problem was already known and there were a few suggestions on how to fix this issue. None of them worked, however, and since no Windows CD was delivered with the laptop, the last option, a system-repair, could not be performed. Therefore, I tried to boot from a Linux Ubuntu Live CD to check whether I could simply replace Windows 8 with...
