Acer V3-571I studied long and hard, read reviews, visited various 'techy' retail outlets; spoke to staff and narrowed my choices to this laptop as being capable, fast and having sufficient in the way of storage to satisfy my needs. I do a little video, quite a lot of photo re touching and edit a society journal. I'm not a gamer.
Amazon delivered (as usual) promptly and the laptop took next to no time at all to set up. It starts and is online in around a minute and whizzes along thanks to the i5 processor. The keyboard is fine and very comfortable to type on, but with my eyes the way they are I choose to have a separate USB keyboard so the screen can be just that little bit further away from me. Some of the reviews I read cited poor sound quality but I have to say this doesn't present a problem for me since I'm not wanting to blast music or video into next door. The only minor concern I have is when opening the 'lid' and lifting the screen into the open position it seems to flex more...

Excellent value laptopWe bought this primarily for the kids for schoolwork, Facebook and so on. The specification was better than other machines at the same price range - faster chip (went for the cheaper but still functional i3 2370M) and more memory. So far so good. Running OpenOffice is smooth and works well. Screen quality is fine when watching HD video. The keyboard is good - if not quite as nice to use as a higher end machine. The HDMI output has already proved more useful than expected as we have connected it to the TV. Sound quality is more than adequate for this level.
Only minor gripe is the touch pad which is really sensitive and a bit fiddly even when adjusted and takes some getting used to. The kids are using a USB mouse.
In summary, this represents really good value for money. Not right for a high end gamer but, for someone wanting a decent computer to cope with most jobs, you'll find little better for the price.
