Who's the Mac Daddy!
This is my first experience of a Mac after many years of using PCs.

I won't go into all the techy details (I don't understand a lot of it!) as other reviewers have done that far better than I can, but my first impressions are very good indeed.

I was a little bit daunted by the prospect of using a completely different operating system after years of using Windows, but it doesn't take very long to get used to it, and when you do, it is so logical and straightforward. I wondered how I'd ever managed without it.

The build is superb, but at a price in my opinion. I have the 15.4" MacBook, and whilst it is absolutely gorgeous, it is rather heavy - I certainly wouldn't want to be carrying it around on a daily basis. I suppose if weight were a major issue, then the 13" version may be the way to go. There are a few minor niggles such as certain functions on the keyboard being different to what I'm used to (no delete key) and symbols in a different place (@)...

Review 2 : Quad-core workstation performance comes to the MacBook Pro
I am reviewing the quad-core i7 MacBook Pro after two weeks of use. This is my third 15.4" model in the last two years: I follow a strategy of upgrading my MacBook Pro as often as possible, and selling on my previous model immediately. Given the good re-sale values of Apple products, it makes some sense (the small premium for doing this compared to upgrading after several years is the price to be paid for always having the most capable&productive machine available for my business).

I bought mine with the 7200rpm 500GB HDD, 8GB of 1333MHz RAM and the optional 2.3GHz processor (comes with 8MB of L3 cache).

I am going to restrict this review to the differences I experience between this and my previous model (a 2.66GHz dual-core i7 with 8GB of 1066MHz RAM and a 7200rpm 500GB HDD, also reviewed on Amazon):

1) It vibrates/resonates much less, at least on my desk (when using the old model, there was a noticeable hum when the hard-disk was spinning).

Apple MACBOOK PRO 13 DUAL CI7 27GHZ 500GB 4GB SUPERDRIVEX8 OSX UK MC724BA Laptops Notebooks

MacBook Pro 13
I have always used PC's and never saw the point of Apple. My daughter is into video editing and has wanted one for ages. When the MacBook Pro was updated in Feb 2011 I decided to give in and get this model. I am a complete convert! This is so fast in every way, start-up from a full reboot, in and out of sleep. It takes a second once you open the lid to be surfing wirelessly, no PC can do that... Battery lasts forever, again a lot better than any PC laptop I've ever had. The software you get preloaded is excellent, especially Garage Band and iMove. iMovie has loads of special effects build in, like Chroma Keying (green screen) and the speed of the i7 dual core means no waiting. I did purchase Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac as nothing comes supplied that give you the same apps. Very expensive but worth every penny.

Review 2 : Despite a few disadvantages, it's still the best 13" laptop
Having bought a 13" MacBook Pro when they first came out in 2009, I've just replaced it with this model.

The Dual Core 2.7 Ghz i7 chip is a significant step-up from the previous Core 2 Duo. Indeed, many computer magazines are saying that this latest generation chipset represents a much more significant increase in processor power than previous speed bumps. You'll notice that programs run significantly faster. I went for the MacBook Pro with the i7 chip, which is the slightly more expensive of the two 13" models, because i wanted a visible upgrade in computing power. I wasn't disappointed. This thing is lightning fast when running MS Office programs like Word, PowerPoint and Excel. While speed has gone up, the price of this model has remained the same.

The new generation of Intel chips used by Apple (codename Sandy Bridge) now has Intel's own graphics processor onboard instead of a third-party one. (if you want a discrete graphics processor, then you'll need to...

Review 2 : Good for all but the heaviest lifitng!
I actually have the model which preceded this one (2.66Ghz i7) which I purchased as a desktop replacement -- the first time in thirty years of computer ownership that I haven't owned a desktop machine. I'm a designer and this laptop chews through heavy duty print design -- magazines. books running to a hundred-plus pages, A3 Photoshop documents, it makes short work of them all. I'm not a gamer, so I can't speak to its gaming performance, but for all other tasks, honestly, unless you're rendering professional-standard CGI footage or editing broadcast-quality video, there's nothing this machine can't do for you.

Real world battery life is 5-6 hours of browsing and e-mail on wifi plus a little light WP work -- I recently put the machine under a full graphic design load and it provided four hours of continuous use, including driving a graphics tablet.

As a side note, I ordered 8Gb of Kingston RAM from Amazon -- upgrading the RAM is a piece of cake, but using the...

Review 1 : Best buy 2011
Having already got an iMac from a couple of years back, it seemed like normal progression to update to a beefy Apple laptop. My mind was split between portability or power and I thought that by going for the 17 incher then the first would be compromised. Granted, it's much bigger than its smaller brothers, but actually, I think I've managed to get both.

There is no disputing it is an absolute powerhouse of a machine and manages to keep up with all my video editing, image editing and goodness knows what I throw at it.

Ever since the purchase of my iMac I have become a definite Apple champion and will never, ever, be going back to a Windows-based machine. Oh, and if you think Android is the way forward, granted Apple's gear costs that little bit more, but at least you know both the hardware and the software have been built with durability and style in mind, and because of those things, it is built to last and does exactly what you want it to do first time...
Review 2 : A beautiful machine.
I've always wanted the 17" MacBook Pro but three years ago I could afford only the 13" MacBook Pro. This has given me every satisfaction with no problems whatsoever. Now that I can afford the 17" I found that they have been discontinued. However, they are still around and I got one through Amazon. Not cheap, but worth every penny. For their trouble-free ease of use also read the other reviews, it's absolutely beautiful. I do have a 27" iMac desktop giving equal pleasure but I could happily use just the 17" MacBook Pro. As an indication of my enthusiasm I've now ordered another 17" MacBook Pro from Amazon before brand-new ones finally disappear.

A Pleasure to Use and Ready for the Future
This is my second Mac computer and has proved to be yet another impressive tool. Boasting the Intel Core i5 processor running at 2.3 GHz, it is appreciably faster than the old Intel Core 2 Duo. The FaceTime camera and software is equally slick. The principle difference between the old iSight camera and the FaceTime HD camera is, yes you guess it, high-definition viewing at 720p.

In shape and form the MacBook Pro 13-inch i5 is identical to its predecessor with Intel Core 2 Duo. Beneath the bonnet however we find a few important differences namely; processor; the Intel Core i5 Sandybridge processor with integrated HD 3000 graphics built into the processor itself, a larger HDD drive with 320 GB, the afore-mentioned FaceTime HD camera, SDXC SD card reader reading cards up to 64GB and the revolutionary Thunderbolt interface which is also the same MiniDisplay port offering great potential for future high-speed storage devices. The data transfer rate is said to be 10 Gigabits per...

Review 1 : Awesome!
As my first home computer was an Amstrad 1512 I have used computers for many years but I have to add I am literally a 'user' and would get totally lost in any in depth technical detail so this review is definitely not for those of you looking for impressive data specifications etc.

I have purchased numerous PC's over the years and as technology advanced it seems the PC's lasted for a shorter and shorter period of time. So when my most recent PC became ever more sluggish, having been impressed with my iPod etc, I decided to take the plunge and go for a MacBook Pro. As I'd been told a new version was due, I diligently checked each day so I could promptly order the i5 Dual Core 2.3GHz, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD as soon as it hit the market.

I can happily say that I have never so easily set up a computer - usually a few days have to be set aside to ensure I can connect to Wifi, transfer email contacts, music, etc onto any new PC. It was certainly not the case with the...
Review 2 : A superb piece of hardware
Let me start by stating as many other people have done so whilst reviewing this product that I am a long time PC user (about 20 years or so), and have never really used an Apple computer before, except during college a few years back to briefly do some music production where I only used the expensive software and not the computer or OS itself.

Windows to Mac - I was put off getting any Apple computer because I thought I'd have to learn how to use a whole new OS!! I must tell you what I realised after using this OS very early on. It's easy!!! Apple are not stupid, they know that pretty much all of their new customers that they want to entice on to their products, come from a Windows back round. If they didn't make the transition smooth and their OS easy to use for those people, they'd never get any new customers coming over from Windows to them. I have to say that my experience with Snow Leopard OSX has been very smooth and productive. I still can't get over how fast...
