Review 1 : Out of box experience is pretty poor, good inking though, a bit too heavy
First impression is its heavier than I hoped it would be in tablet mode. The tablet alone is 880g , nearly 1kg, about 250g more than an iPad. Its also too wide.

3 hours in and its still updating so the out of the box experience is pretty poor. Confusingly Samsung's own software update programme is buggy out of the box and ironically needs updating itself before you can get anywhere with it. Then, when its updated , Samsung's update programme is hardly intuitive. Then there are two other update programmes installed on the device - one from Intel and the Windows standard update. I think the average user would be very confused.

The trackpad set up Samsung has on this means its pretty easy to accidently switch between apps when doing anything with the left of the trackpad. I've probably switched applications by accident 5 times just typing this review. It's possible to switch this off I think. This is a feature of windows 8 - swiping from the left changes...

All good things....
Arrived swiftly and up and running within 5 minutes. Superb compact laptop. Clean lines and feels robust.

Have been using it for over a month now with no problems. Behaves like a tower or larger size laptop in term of speed for browsing, editing documents, playing video etc. No problem in running several applications as once.

Please note this is a laptop and not a netbook however, the integrated graphics are really not up to any type of gaming (even struggles with Rome Total War which is a very old PC game.

Best thing about it is its weight and portability.

PS. If like me you tend to use your laptop on your knee - fear not. No overheating at all (which is what destroyed my last laptop). I think Ive heard the fan twice in one month. Unit keeps very cool indeed.

5 stars for me, no qualms!

Review 1 : Excellent small, light, laptop
The machine is small, light and thin. There is very little to complain about. The screen is clear and bright. The battery life so far is good; it isn't something that can work all day without power but for round the house it is fine. The screen isn't reflective and the sound is good. The fan is quiet and often not on at all.

The processor is dual core, quad thread and, for the household tasks of MS Office, web and playing videos, is startlingly fast. The 64 bit operating system means that the full 4GB memory can be used.

Start up is very quick - Samsung claims 3 secs from sleep mode.

The track pad is big and easy to use. It works a lot better if you configure it for your preferences. In particular, it is possible to configure a two fingered tap on the pad to be equivalent to a 'middle button' mouse click, allowing you to easily open web pages in a new tab.

Review 2 : A fantastic *almost* ultrabook
Software: There's very little Samsung "bloatware". It is pre-installed with utilities including "Silent mode" (triggered by a function key) which silences the fan at the expense of a bit of extra heat and CPU frequency (throttling) if needed. I haven't bothered with this mode however because I only hear the fan when I'm using the laptop when its charging (even then, its only audible in a silent room). It also comes with Skype and Office 2010 starter edition pre-installed.

Performance: The 2nd generation i3 processor is a dual core, hyper-threaded processor with Intel HD graphics integrated on the chip. I haven't tried many games on it however. It gets a 4.7 2D graphics and 5.7 3D graphics Windows Experience Index score. The memory gets 5.9 and the processor is 6 point something. Overall the experience is great. Review 2 : Superb little machine
Great little laptop. Fast and light with good battery life. Only niggles are the amount of bloatware which you have to remove and, because the optical drive forms part of the casing, you have to be careful not to pick up the laptop by that area while a disc is in. Otherwise all good. Recommended.
