Acer Aspire V3-551G 15.6 inch Laptop (AMD A6 4400, 8Gb RAM, 500Gb HDD, DVDSM DL, LAN, WLAN, BT, Webcam, AMD Radeon Graphics, Windows 8) On Sale

Product Description

Great Casual Laptop
Pros:

Plays videos fine and can run games fine. Newer games like BioShock Infinite run at low-medium great and games like Left 4 Dead 2 run on high

The laptop also has a very nice keyboard that can be easily cleaned with compressed air as the keys are spread apart

The fan is very quiet. I don't even notice it

Cons:

Comes preinstalled with bloatware, and shredder is an absolute pain to remove

Windows 8 is very strange. I installed a program to simulate windows 7 and it makes it useable

The laptop does get very hot. I think I will buy a cooling mat because of this

Review 2 : Excellent for casual entertainment
As has been said in another review, this laptop is very good for casual gaming. I have been playing several games released late 2012 on medium to high settings and have consistently high frame-rate even in the most intense moments. It also can play 720p and 1080p films with no issue.

The laptop comes with Windows 8, which I hadn't used before. The operating system seems to be designed to integrate with all the new touchscreen things which means that it (specifically the Start menu) can be a bit awkward with the trackpad or mouse. Otherwise, the system runs very smoothly; it's quick and runs quietly and coolly.

The only minor issue I've noticed is that some programmes take longer to start up than should be necessary and the laptop occasionally (but not frequently) freezes for up to a minute. I don't know if this is a problem with the laptop or the software though.

Overall I've found that the laptop perfectly suits my needs and was a very good deal for...
