Product Description
Simple yet sleek design creates a unique mood of sophisticated elegance and modernity, featuring piano-gloss covers and polished metal frames. The N series is also extremely user-focused, delivering comfortable soft-feel touchpad, fast-type keys with reinforced springs, and a smoothed-out integrated power button. Intelligent design and meticulous craftsmanship combine to embody a spirit of advanced computing and purely sensational simplicity.
Does the jobs with ease
Nice and powerful for all the day to day applications, media and files that's chucked in its way, disk drive a bit slow but for pure processing on memory hungry stuff, it is not such a problem
Would be nice to have the illuminated keyboard instead of the largely pointless lit ASUS logo on the top panel and includes lots of redundant bloatware which did take a bit of time and effort to remove.
The touch pad takes a bit of effort to master and set up
However overall it is a brilliant piece of kit and has replaced my desktop at home and work.

Review 1 : incredible specification that hit the sweet spot.
Ivybridge 4 core and invidia mobile card giving exceptional performance. Runs cool and quiet. Looks sleek in satin black and illuminated logo.Loads of memory, Windows 64bit. Long battery life. Great value specification.
I guess people looking for a cheaper gaming lap top would prefer a faster disk.
Review 2 : Developer heaven
I have the 16Gbyte version of this.
I needed to replace my ageing 4 core Phenom-powered boxes. I do fairly heavy development and it isn't unusual to see 14Gbytes in use, several SQL databases open, four or five Java projects, various documents, Chrome with maybe five or six tabs and several background processes. Under these conditions, Netbeans editor panes were slow to render and I was having graphics problems with windows failing to refresh and, in the worst case, the mouse clicking on the wrong row deleted an entire SVN repository (sorry guys).
Up till now it would have been another desktop but this would mean replacing two machines - home and office - with two. So I took a chance on this and it has worked. Performance is, to say the least, adequate. Heat generated is surprisingly low. The keyboard isn't perfect (keys a little too stiff for me) and the trackpad is undoubtedly clever but I prefer a mouse - the trackpad is half way to a touchscreen but without the all...
