Review 1 : Expensive but nice
The R700-185 is classy and expensive but fulfils a few criteria missing in rivals; it has a good battery life 6+ hrs, it is light, it runs fairly cool, it fits a travel bag and because of the SSD disk you don't worry about the bumps etc. The screen is good; the keyboard you will love or hate. I find it fine but would have liked it to be a little less glossy/slippery. The tracker pad is fine but offset to the left by an inch and this is annoying but is seem on many other laptops. I really dislike the touchpad buttons which are stiff to click and noisy so not ideal for the trains quiet coach!!! As a leader of its type it is good and should provide a good workhorse for a few years. The 3yr international warranty is a real plus. It performs really fast probably due to the SSD disk. The Toshiba add-ons in software are all optional so unlike predecessors you don't have to spend time un-configuring components which add little value. Review 2 : A super Laptop with no where to go when you want to upgrade the Hard drive???
Still Fuming because Toshiba's top of the range Portege i7(R700-185) wrongly claims to be SATA-150 when, in fact it's not upgradable beyond the 128GB custom SSD jobbee. Now sitting with an 8GB RAM x64 bit OS and no where to go with Hdd space. Classy, real Classy Toshiba.Otherwise the laptop would have been fine.
