Cracked screen
Laptop developed cracked screen after 5 days normal use. Contacted Dell and explained the problem, who sent an engineer to inspect the laptop.
On arrival the engineer demanded money to replace the laptop screen. We explained that the laptop had only be used for 5 days when the crack developed and we shouldn't be paying for a faulty product. The Dell engineer left without fixing the screen or looking at the laptop. Contacted Dell again, who said they couldn't do anything for us as their engineer report said it was our fault even though he had not inspected the laptop. Currently in dispute with Dell via the credit card company.
Beware there is a design fault with these Dell Laptops where the screens do develope cracks afer normal use.

Review 1 : Great quality well made laptop
I've had this laptop for just over 3 months and can't fault it at all.
Boot up time is fast and the machine copes easily with videos and anything thrown at it. Only the most top end games will struggle on the graphics card.
I went for the upgrade and i7 processor but to be honest I am not sure it's worth bothering about, depends on the cost they are upgrading for. The i5 will be adequate for most use.
It's really well made, and only missing a backlit keyboard. The keys do not flex like most laptops, are easy to locate, and have a very positive feel to them.
I took off the Dell software, but if you do this remember to add the trackpad software back in - otherwise the trackpad keeps moving the cursor away from where you are typing - infuriating!
The best feature on the laptop (or at least what sets it apart) is the sound setup. A little subwoofer under the unit puts this light and day above the normal laptops in the range - so...

I have just purchased this laptop and its ok. Dell used to be very good, just as lenovo is right now, the build quality of this laptop makes it clear that a group of accountants sat with the design team to ensure that the laptop designed within a budget to maximize profit
processors are always behind compared to rivals the gfx is always cheaper than rivals and now the build quality is cheaper than rivals. using an old 1gb gfx is an old trick, it states 1gb gfx but it wont perform like a new gfx card, the processor is an older version of i5 not the latest one and the ram harddrive and touchpads are all dated. its like how ford used to recycle old car parts to produce a newer car thats the same as the old one only looks slightly different.
I have a lenovo ideapad which is my personal laptop, this one was bought for me from work money so decided to buy a dell see whats what before i push this one on to my juniors as their upgrade
still better than some hp laptops
