Great Laptop Once You Have Re-installed It
I was very pleased with this laptop in terms of performance (I did also upgrade the ram to the full 8gb that it can accept) but, whatever I did, I could not get any printer to work on it properly. I was on the verge of selling it and cutting my losses when I decided to completely re-install it and only use any acer drivers that I absolutely needed to, to make the hardware functional.

Without all the **** that Acer installed on the laptop, it now works brilliantly and I am very pleased with it.

So, if you buy one of these, I recommend that the 1st thing you do is upgrade the ram to 8gb. The 2nd thing you do is re-install Windows 64bt so, that you remove everything in terms of software and drivers that Acer installed. Then, customise by installing your own software and hardware drivers that you need for your own devices.

If you do this, you will have an extremely powerful laptop for a very cheap price.

I brought these for my children and they are fantastic, there is no web cam which is why i got them, the lid closes but has no click button to shut it, but there is a lock somewhere, but its never needed as they are always open and being used, the screen is nice and big and they children are finding them fast in processing, they play lots of virtual games videos, music, social networking and there has been no graphic problem to date. was easy to set up, initial start up was prob 10 mins while it did update and antivirus was activated, which is norton and free for 60 days,the cooling fan is on the left side which is better than underneath. all in all i am very impressed.

Through the second year of using this I've had all three USB ports break. Either the plastic snaps off or the connector inside gets a crack in it. The whole thing is starting to feel very cheap and loose. The headphone port has also broke.

I got this laptop at christmas and have used it nearly everyday. Took about 10 minutes to set up. Startup is about a minute depending on the wear and tear of it.
Windows 7 is a great addition upon the vista i had n my computer. It is much quicker and the tools like pinning things to your taskbar greatly reduce time to do tasks. Also the ability to move your gadgets around on your screen to place anywhere is another great addition from the awful sidebar.Another great feature is if you want to look at the desktop and have a lot of programmes running yu simply drag your mouse to the bottom right and it minimizes them all.
Sound isn't that great for youtube videos but any music you play sounds rather good. The N wireless is also amazing as whereever i go in my house it has 4 or 5 bars.
