Very disappointing
Apart from looking good this laptop is really only good for watching films on the very large screen - but save your money and get a monitor. It maximises and minimises the screen and closes programs at will and the keys fall off - that's the good stuff.

SHAME on Toshiba for even thinking of using the modem they have installed.
It is THE most USELESS modem I have ever had the misfortune to use. After having to reset to factory settings TWICE with concomittant loss of info and programs I realised that any updates it received made it stop working altogether.The rest of the time it just MOSTLY doesn't work. Connection is very very difficult to make and maintain, it will be dropped at soon as wink. Most of my time life has been spent trying to get and keep an internet connection before buying an external modem. My husband's 5 year old Dell is better than this.

Other things, - it weighs a ton and the battery life is PATHETIC even on the power conservation setting...

Review 1 : Excellent Product
Excellent design - rivalling Apple products. The build-quality seems to be high, though I've only had the machine for a month. The attractive matt silver-grey finish is likely to age well and is classier than the super-gloss finishes on most Dells. The display is generally sharp and colour-rich and the extra width is useful for movies and applications that offer side toolbars (including Windows Vista). The keyboard, number pad and trackpad are solid and easy to use. The additional control keys make cd and dvd playing more acccessible. There is also a good range of ports for cards and accessories (but see bad points below). The inclusive software package is also useful. Overall, this is a very good alternative to a desktop but it would be too large for travel use. Good to have a Blu-ray rw drive, but I haven't tested it yet.
- The sound is better than many laptops, but there appears to be some distortion in the higher frequencies and volume levels - perhaps from small speakers...
