Not quite what I had expectedAfter less than a year the battery practically died (5 minutes battery life), and after 1.5 years the mouse touch pad stopped functioning. Add to that the fact that over time Vista seemed to slow down and started having trouble performing several things at once. And the laptop heats up very quickly and gets quite loud. All in all, I had expected a bit more quality from Sony VAIO, guess I paid extra for the brand name... My new comp will be a cheap Dell as a result.

The Cost of this became much lower compared to other areas, I other areas Researchd, and not considerably more as compared tp comparable product or service.

Sony's hidden gemKnowing Sony, this model has probably been discontinued by now, but I bought mine last year and am still delighted with it. It comes with Windows Vista Home, which makes my professional colleagues turn up their noses in disdain. True, it is not much of an improvement over XP, but it's different and interesting to learn and, with 4BG of memory, it's very fast. There is a brilliant search facility, too.
This laptop will play blu-ray discs, either on its own or with a suitable TV that has an HDMI socket. As you would expect from that, the screen is fantastic, but it does require you to be sitting pretty much in front of it to get the full benefit. I'm not sure when you would want to, but you can also use it as a stand-alone DVD player, without switching on the laptop part. I suppose it would save battery power if that's what you were using.
I was given a VADO HD mini-video recorder for my birthday and it plays back footage from that perfectly. I'm actually writing...
