Ok I love Macs. This is the latest update to macbook pro series. It has all the functions you need , usb3.0,thunderbolt, sdxc fast card reader,and a very fast i5 cpu.

I upgrade it in day 1 with an ssd Samsung 830 128gb , which already use in my mac mini, and gives tremendous power to this macbook.

Later if I find Samsung ram ddr3 1600 I will upgrade also to 8 or 16gb.

I bought one of these a few months ago, after sadly selling my beloved 11" MacBook Air (see first link in the comment below) when I had to give up my 24" Monitor.
(so I needed the new Pro for its bigger display....no other reason).

I chose this one over a conventional Pro because it is thinner and lighter. I've owned three Pros in recent years, and they were too heavy to carry around frequently.

So my thoughts about the new Pro:
In terms of processing grunt, it is comparable to my previous quad-core MacBook Pro (see second link in the comment below). Fine.
In day-to-day terms it is as fast as, but not noticeably faster than, my MacBook Air was.

The big display is crisp and good enough to negate a large monitor. Does the 'Retina Display' quality of it make things any better? No. For sure, the higher resolution of the display makes management of the screen area easier when editing videos and photos, but the higher pixels-per-inch makes no...

Review 1 : Not as Described. Not UK model
I ordered this Macbook and received the item the very next day which was fulfilled by Amazon which was great.
When arrived and opened the box, the keyboard was different, not greatly different but it was not a UK model. It does not state anywhere that it is a international or us keyboard. Secondly, this computer is not even american after checking the serial number which is MC975ZP/A. It is a Con to let these companies trade on the UK Amazon site and trick customers into thinking it is a UK model by not stating clearly that it is a international model.

I have used it now and it is not hard to adjust as i have used Arabic and US keyboards in the past but for anybody not used to the change it would be an issue. Causes a little confusion when i switch from iMAC UK model to this now.

Just a note to everyone that take it into account before purchasing.

Nice display, good build quality as usual (I still have a 5 year old MacBook that I use, but since I spend most of my time on the road its nice to have something with a bit more processing power). Retina screen looks great, at full res can be a little hard on the eyes as the text can get pretty small. Had no real problems after a month of use.

My only gripe is the lack of external connections. Two USBs is pretty limited, particularly because it has no built in DVD and it is likely if you use any kind of CD or DVD you'll end up with one of these, and with the limited internal memory you're going to use an external drive. I also have a USB external wireless broadband dongle so already I'm having to pack a USB hub! Review 1 : Three months in and all is well
I've had my MacBook Air 11 inch since June 2012 and so far all is well. I went for the all singing, all dancing version with a i7 processor, 512Gb hard drive and 8GB of RAM - because (apparently) it's not upgradable later. The USB3 ports works perfectly with my USB2 peripherals and the thunderbolt port works well with external monitors (adaptor required). Do I have any regrets? Well, although the screen resolution is 1366 x 768 (about the same as most PC 13-inch resolutions), it is still quite small for my ageing eyes. I sometimes wonder whether I should have got the 13 inch macbook air, with its larger screen and extra battery life. But, having said that, I love the smallness of the 11-inch. For what it is, I can't fault it. The build quality is superb and it's lightening fast. As well as Mac applications, I also use Parallels 8 for running PC software in Windows7. *NOTE* The macbook pro i am reviewing is actually the 2.6Ghz 8GBram model. I am reviewing on this page, because amazon does not think this version of the macbook pro is available yet, only for pre-order, therefore no-one can possibly review it. I have a 2006 macbook, and this is the first mac i have had since then, (i had one homebuilt PC in between that) . My parents have a 1 year old iMac i5, and after using that a few times i thought i would go out and buy another mac, for portability, buy full size ATX can't exactly be taken on my backpack to college etc.. Review 2 : Amazing piece of kit.
Ignoring the rather exceptional price tag and the lack of any hardware upgrade options after you've bought it, this really is an amazing piece of kit. Screen is first class, OS and software just works, sturdy construction and well thought out interface (mousepad options in particular). As long as you don't need any higher spec, this really is ideal. Highly recommended.

Light as a feather.
OSX is a breeze to set up and use.
Everything is intuitive and where you would expect it to be.
Loads of free (fully functional) software for it like Openoffice.

Negatives
They hateful and confusing software that is ITunes. I don't like software that forces your to do things their way or not at all. First task once the machine is up, install VLC and use that as your player instead. Oh, and update from Safari browser to Firefox.

I bought this laptop with much the same fear as everyone else. Should I buy a Mac over a windows computer? Could I adapt to a Mac? I took the plunge. On opening the box there was little in there but the necessary stuff. I must say this machine is sleek and beautiful to look at. It has an exterior that appears like it can handle a few knocks and bumps. When I turned on the computer it asked a few things of me and then it was up and running. I found getting used to the trackpad a bit tricky to start with, but the handy thing is that you can set it to how you want it. Once I'd practiced a bit it worked like a dream. Slowly but surely I was getting used to how the whole thing works. The Wifi is great making surfing a breeze and DVDs play to a high resolution. Email notifications are just as smooth as the iPhone. Fantabulous....
Reached the day promised and was promptly unpacked. The packing was very good, no chances of any damage. The battery had a good amount of charge and it took a few minutes to set it up. It has worked like a charm after that. Registered the serial number on the apple website and everything looked fine.
