I have had nothing but problems with sony laptops. I said I would never buy another one, unfortunately I did and now I am stuck with a piece of junk with an extremely noisy whirring fan. After doing research on the net I have found that this is a sony design fault. Do not buy!

Review 1 : This laptop has a manufacturing defect - faulty fans
Newly resubmitted without the URL's linking to Sony's support website as this contravenes the review policy..
All, this laptop has a manufacturing problem with the fans and the fan controller software. It makes a loud 'errrrrrrrr' noise every time the fan spins up, and slows down. And the fan comes on every couple of seconds, but rarely stays on. (the driver software is badly written). It is so annoying to use, and appears to be an international problem affecting all CS model laptops according to the 100's of other people online who have raised issues with it at Sony's support forum.
The cause is a cheap fan combined with poorly written driver software. My CS-11 pink model is due to be sent to Sony for repairs, which will involve a new fan. The fan controller software does not have a fix yet, and may never do so... so there isnt really a solution to the issue.
Its a stinker.. a real shame considering the rest of the machine is ok. Do not buy this...
