Samsung Series 5 3G Chromebook (Titan Silver) Big SALE

Product Description

Fast and light, long battery life, few quibbles
Bought it as a usable portable (rather than a luggable) general purpose device for my daughter at Uni.
It is not cheap, considering it has only 2GB RAM, and Atom processor a 12 inch screen and an odd keyboard.
It is a very much a WiFi / 3G connection dependant device...not LAN socket so need an adapter to access a wired network.
Comes with mains adapter, a 3 SIM card with 3 months worth of bandwidth, and cable to connect to another monitor.

PROS
Fast...very fast to boot; some apps can be laggy, especially if a lot of network traffic is required
Light, 1.3 kg
Reasonable size screen...compared to the usual 10 inch netbook form factor
Simple to use; practice on a Chrome Browser on a PC
Literally thousands of Apps available for instant download.
Data on cloud...whatever one feels about it, nice top be able to access the data even if you leave the chrome book at home, or lose it.

CONS
Very poor manual
Limited...

Review 1 : Promising but slow
This will be a short review.

First - I really love the concept of "only the web", its just so right, and in my opinion its the future. But I dont really can feel that this product is perfect all the way; mainly because two things:

1. Its to slow. The browsing experience is not esp fun.
2. The trackpad is horrible to use, doesnt respond as it should do.

There are som more issues that isnt about this product, but the environment I - and most other work i.

1. Lack of connectivity to more VPN (Cisco ASA?)
2. Builtin RDP and Citrix.

When i go for business trips now i can choose between bringing my iPad or this device. With my Chromebook i can work with more textrelated tasks (text/spreadsheet), its cumbersome with the iPad.

To round up, this is in my opinion a beta product, when the final is out this will really be able to help change how we at IT-department work and support our users (no support -- good)!
Review 2 : Chromebook - first real netbook
excellent bit of kit...

Out of the box, it really does boot in 8 seconds and the screen is surprisingly larger and brighter than expected
Keyboard is very good, and my 2 year old hasn't managed to work out how to get the keys off just yet - unlike other laptops

I think this is the first real netbook on the market, small OS just for the web. And it does that very well indeed.
Yes there are small issues - the sound could be better, and watching some HQ video kills it a bit.
Iplayer and youtube works a treat though

I gave the chromebook to my brother for a day or so and he is going to get one, as he is so peeed off with the so-called netbook with Windows on it

The 3G card didnt come with mine, not sure if it was supposed to. Sent amazon an email about it, still no response
