Product Description
HP Pavilion dm4-1150ea Entertainment - Core i5 450M / 2.4 GHz - RAM 4 GB - HDD 5
Great - but little niggles
Generally extremely good - light, fast, great video picture quality. In fact, just what I wanted - it ticks all the boxes of being a machine I can use every day whilst being light enough to work with whilst travelling. (I wanted to avoid having a machine at home and a separate notebook for travelling).
The only niggles I have are with the fingerprint security system (which I have not activated) which tries to work whilst I am initially signing in thus causing the machine to believe an invalid password has been entered. A second attempt always works because the fingerprint sensor has given up by then. Secondly, the mouse pad and left click button have to be used very precisely, otherwise the cursor goes walkabout. I have found an external mouse much easier to control.
Other than these two small niggles, I am extremely pleased.
As for the Amazon service - everything perfect (as has been the case every time I have used them). I now check whether they sell what I am looking...

Review 2 : Not quite perfect but pretty darn good all the same
If you're after a laptop that's stylish and powerful, then the HP Pavilion DM4 certainly looks the part, with it's patterned aluminium keyboard surround and lid, and it's no slouch under the hood either. I use mine for development, and its dual core i5 is perfectly capable of running the copy of x64 Windows 7 that it comes pre-installed with, as well as a development environment and a couple of virtual machines, and represents a bargain at this price. The battery life is pretty good too.
If you are looking for a machine to play the latest games, however, you may want to look elsewhere, as this has a screen resolution limited to 1366x768 and no dedicated GPU.
The keyboard has a small travel distance and has the Apple-style key spacing, but it's snappy enough that you know when a key has been pressed. Unfortunately, the F-keys default to their alternative functions such as volume and other media controls (to actually press F2, for example, you need to press Fn +...
