Product Description
HP DV7 Overheating
Although a well specified machine it seems to ahve an inherent fault in the cooling department. Motherboard replaced after only 8 months and is now overheating and shutting down.
Seems to be an inherent design flaw given the amount of disussion threads on HP's support site. One to avoid

Review 1 : More than I could ask for
I've had this laptop for over 6 months now, and it's still functioning perfectly.
I use it a lot for gaming, I can run games like Left 4 Dead 2 well on medium settings (say about 50-60 fps)
But what really astounds me is the excellent array of extra's it has.
I was going to buy a headset, until I found that this laptop had TWO headphone slots, and a built in microphone, next to the excellent built-in webcam.
It has a light-scribe disc labeller
Great speakers for when I don't want to use my headset.
Most importantly, this laptop feels very reliable. I've run the laptop to kingdom come, and it copes, it doesn't overheat or anything. It feels solid and reliable, whilst retaining a sleek, smooth quality.
The weight is negligible, I can still carry the thing with only one hand, and the (fairly poor) battery life is really the only drawback of this laptop.
The battery will last about 3-4 hours of gaming or watching a film, more if...
Review 2 : So far so good
I have had this laptop around 3 months and so far it has not missed a beat.
Performance: The processer/RAM/graphics card have easily managed evererything I have thrown at them (mid to high range games smooth as anything).
Design: The exterior is sleek and feels well made, the buttons are of a very high quality, keyboard nice to write with (not quite as good as a Mac, but what is?).
Sound: The speakers are the loudest and clearest I have ever heard from a laptop by some margin.
Extras: The lightscribe cd labeler works better then I could have anticipated.
