Got this as a replacement for a 4 year old HP dv8 Pavilion with an Intel Centrino Duo processor and 17" screen.
Have been very disapointed with this later machine. The quality of the dv7 series seems significanlty lower than the dv8. The buttons on the pad are covered and it is easy to move the curser off the target whilst pressing the buttons (really irritating). Have resorted to a mouse for most of the time whilst at home.
Catch for dvd / cd drive is poor quality and not easy to operate.
Card reader: xD card has to be held in with my finger or thumb before it works. It will read an SD card without problem.
Screen is bright but is very reflective.
Even with the new mid range i5 Intel processor it seems no faster, possibly due to increased overhead of Windows 7.
HP's own software also seems to get inbetween Windows 7 and the user, slowing it down.
All in all not a happy experience.
Will have to take much more care in...

The Cost of it was lower when compared with other place, my partner and i other areas Researchd, and not a lot more compare to similar product.

various problems straight out of the box,wouldnt accept anti virus, unable to set up wireless connections, and various other snags. had to recover from hard drive(which was v easy), after that aok, very quick machine, easy to set up, would def recomend.
